Dr. Amit Kapoor shared his views as one of the panelist at the conference on “Creating an Enabling Ecosystem for Returnee Entrepreneurs” hosted by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and the Hong Kong University for Science and Technology (HKUST).

The session would allow for deliberations on existing policy initiatives of the government that returnee entrepreneurs can benefit from and afford an opportunity to discuss other recommendations to support Indian returnees as a core part of the government’s innovation promotion schemes. The session will also provide an opportunity to discuss the role for actors other than the government for bolstering entrepreneurship initiatives of return migrants. Municipalities, chambers of commerce, investment promotion agencies, and institutions providing services for start-ups are all agencies that can play an enormous role in this regard by gearing some of their existing services specifically towards migrants/diaspora. Collaboration between these actors and public-private partnerships in particular can go a long way in enhancing the business investment climate, and increasing opportunities for returnee entrepreneurs. This session will allow for discussions on what such partnerships might look like.
