Consumer Unity & Trust Society (CUTS International) and CUTS Institute for Regulation & Competition (CIRC) organised the 6th Biennial Conference on Competition, Regulation and Development on 01-02 December, 2019 in New Delhi, India. Through the 6th edition, this international conference enters its 12th year and as always, it promises to bring together a unique set of expert stakeholders from across the globe. Dr Amit Kapoor was one of the keynote Speakers at the conference on December 1, 2019.
The theme of this year is “Making Competition and Regulatory Regimes Matter in Increasingly Online Developing World”. The conference aims to discuss issues at the intersection of the online economy, anti-trust and regulation. Despite having global ramifications, this discussion is unfortunately restricted to the developed economies.
We intend to fill this void by having the conversation in the context of distinct challenges faced by emerging economies, inter alia: i) rapidly expanding and diverse online user base; ii) limited institutional, governance and enforcement capacities; and iii) difficulties in pursuing inclusive economic growth and sustainable development.
