In India, the urbanisation challenge and the responsibilities of achieving SDG 112 which is about making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable are imperative.3 This rapid expansion of urbanisation is driven by a variety of factors, including improved employment and economic opportunities, access to health care facilities, and an anticipated higher standard of living. Cities have come to play an increasingly crucial role in generating economic development, resulting in higher per capita income and fostering innovation, thereby improving the quality of life. However, the rapid tempo and scope of development are accompanied by a vast number of obstacles.
