The Global South Research Collaborative’s second webinar on the topic “Pandemic Accord: SIMPLIFIED” is scheduled to be held on November 14, 2024. This webinar is part of “The Simplified Series” organized jointly by PATH and the Institute for Competitiveness for catalyzing North-South and South-South partnerships, for empowering the Global South to take ownership of global policy pieces, and to foster champions of global health in the Global South.

In the second webinar of the series, we will unpack the deliberations and discussions that are bridging Health and Climate at the Conference of Parties (COP). Emerging from the Cold War, there was a growing commitment towards global cooperation and development, especially as concerns over climate change began to gain traction across international discussions. However, it was only in the mid 2000’s that health began to enter the purview of discussions on climate change and platforms that anchor global negotiations and consensus building on climate change, such as the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the annual meetings of the Conference of the Parties (COP), began taking cognizance of health risks as a result of climate change.
