Institute for Competitiveness, India is the Indian knot in the global network of the Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness at Harvard Business School. Institute for Competitiveness, India is an international initiative centred in India, dedicated to enlarging and purposeful disseminating of the body of research and knowledge on competition and strategy, as pioneered over the last 25 years by Professor Michael Porter of the Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness at Harvard Business School. Institute for Competitiveness, India conducts and supports indigenous research, offers academic and executive courses, and provides advisory services to the Corporate and the Governments. The institute studies competition and its implications for company strategy; the competitiveness of nations, regions & cities and thus generate guidelines for businesses and those in governance; and suggests and provides solutions for socio-economic problems.

Our expertise expands over competitiveness of regions and means to improve the regional advantage of locations. No location can stand in isolation, oblivious of the benchmarks followed internationally.  To understand the current condition of the Indian economy with regards to competitiveness and the gaps in the dream of becoming one of the largest economies in the world, the institute builds a base in extensive and expansive data on the Indian economy.

Apart from research, our other functions emanate from the extensive data base to translate to publishing, advisory, events and training.

Research: We are involved in conducting rigorous quality research to satisfy the diversified needs of the entire economy from the regional to the national level making competitiveness all pervasive phenomenon and a standard process.

Publications: Institute for Competitiveness, India brings out reports, journals and magazines to support the cause of competitiveness and prosperity and encourage innovative, unconventional thinking to find alternative solutions to existing problems. They are an avenue for academicians, corporate executives and thinkers to motivate the novel and the unconventional.

Events and Training: IFC also offers short term academic and executive courses, conducts seminars, conferences, workshops, round table meetings and designs strategic games to provide a practical and deeper understanding of the subject.

Advisory: It also extends its valued consulting and advisory services to the government at the central and the state level, corporate houses and other institutes.

Funding: Institute for Competitiveness being a specialized body of research also funds academic research in the area of strategy and competitiveness to encourage and nourish any contribution made in the domain of research and knowledge.

The objective of the institute is to provide insights on the socio economic conditions, assessing policies to gauge their implications on the economy and providing futuristic solutions for a better tomorrow. It brings forth the weaknesses and gives suggestions to restructure the policies to achieve greater prosperity and a balanced development.
